Farm tires made in Iowa
In April 2012, Mitas newest radial farm tire production started in the new factory in Charles City, which originally coined the word “tractor.” The investment agreements were signed on August 31, 2010, at the Farm Progress Show in Boone, IA. In fall 2010, the company bought the Winnebago facility in Charles City. In January 2012, the first Mitas test tire was cured in Iowa, and in April 2012 started serial production.
Reasons for investment
- Proximity to original equipment manufacturers such as John Deere, CNH, Unverferth and local replacement tire users.
- Locality suitable for American and Canadian original equipment manufacturers and replacement markets.
Mitas – Introduction
Mitas (www.mitas-tires.com) is a Czech-based brand of off-road tires (agricultural, industrial, motorcycle and bicycle). The history of Mitas dates to the 1930s, when tire production started in Prague, the capital of Czechoslovakia, and in the Moravian city of Zlin. Mitas tires are currently produced in three plants in the Czech Republic, in one plant in Serbia and in one plant in Charles City, Iowa. Mitas tires are sold through an extensive international sales and distribution network operating in 14 countries, including the United States and Mexico.
A strategic decision to invest in the U.S.
Currently, Mitas tires are delivered to its customers in Europe and America. The Mitas brand is, however, expanding its global presence.
Mitas radial agricultural tires can be found on new tractors and combines of John Deere, Case New Holland, Unverferth, Claas and AGCO Group. Mitas brand is regularly recognized with awards by these OEMs as the best supplier. One in four new tractors and harvesters in Europe are fitted with Mitas tires.
